Training content:

1-1 Quantities and units
International System units including definition and history, base quantities, derived quantities, unit symbols, angles, degree-radian conversion.

1-2 2-D and 3-D coordinate systems
Plane of a part, origin, Cartesian coordinates, 2D polar coordinates. Cartesian coordinate system, cylindrical and spherical in space (3D), ruler with the right hand, translation and rotation of a coordinate system.

1.3 Measuring machine
Type of machine, Cantilever / Bridge, Column / Gantry, comparative study. Guidance, probing system, probes, computer and measuring software, clamping tools, additional accessories (turntable, stylus changer, articulated stylus system).

1.4 Sensors for measuring machines
Nomenclature of the different technologies for the acquisition of points (Contact and contactless)

1.5 Fundamentals of coordinate metrology
Nominal geometric element, real geometric element, extracted geometric element, associated geometric element. Dimensioning (dimensions, geometric tolerance symbols).

1.6 Dimensional tolerancing
Linear and angular dimensional specifications, tolerances. Indication of adjustments.

1.7 Geometric elements
Geometric elements: point / line / plane / circle / sphere / cylinder / cone / torus, vector, normal, minimum number of points,

1.8 Geometric constructions
Constructions of geometric elements by projection, intersections and unions. Evaluation of distances and angles between elements

1.9 Preparation of a measurement on CMM
Recommended temperature, part cleaning, temperature control, part set-up, clamping system, machine and software start-up.

1.10 Selection of the probe and its qualification
Probe system selection, stylus qualification, reference sphere, reference probe, stylus ball radius correction, stylus deflection correction, probe mechanical limits, errors reported during improper qualification.

1.11 Measurements on CMMs
Research of the part's reference system, the machine reference system, manual and automatic alignment, probing, references, consequences of collisions, number of probing points and their distribution.

1.12 Measurement analysis
Association criteria (Gauss, Inscribed, circumscribed, minimum zone). Importance of statistical parameters, outliers, dispersion, histogram.

1.13 Measurement planning
What is the purpose of the measurement, how is the part manufactured (generates standard geometric deviations according to the process), what is the function of the part, what characteristics must be measured.
